Spring is a wonderful season that brings about new beginnings, fresh flowers, and a general sense of renewal. For many people, it’s also a time to clean up and declutter their homes. However, cleaning can be a daunting task, especially when you don’t know where to start or how to get rid of all the accumulated clutter. The good news is, here are some spring cleaning hacks that you need to know to make the process a lot easier and more manageable.
Declutter first
Before you start cleaning, rent a dumpster, and declutter your space. Go through your belongings and get rid of things that you no longer use or need. Donate, sell or recycle items that are still in good condition but no longer serve a purpose in your home. This will make cleaning much easier and less time-consuming.
Use a microfiber cloth
When cleaning surfaces, use a microfiber cloth. These cloths are designed specifically to trap dirt and dust particles, making them more effective at cleaning than traditional cotton cloths. They’re also reusable and can be washed in the washing machine.
Use a squeegee to remove pet hair
Pet hair can be tricky to remove from upholstery and carpets. Use a squeegee or rubber-edged window cleaner to effectively lift and gather pet hair from these surfaces. Just swipe it across the surface, and watch the hair come right off!
Clean blinds with an old sock
For an efficient way to clean your blinds, use an old sock. Slip the sock onto your hand, dip it in a solution of equal parts water and vinegar, and run your hands along each slat. The sock will easily grab onto dust and grime, leaving your blinds looking fresh.
Use a lemon to clean your chopping board
If your cutting board is starting to smell, use a lemon to freshen it up. Cut a lemon in half, and rub the cut side on the board, making sure to cover the entire surface of the board. Let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse the board with water. The lemon will naturally disinfect and deodorize the cutting board.
Freshen up your mattress with baking soda
Your mattress can accumulate dirt, sweat and other debris over time, To freshen it up, sprinkle baking soda over the surface, let it sit for a few hours, and then vacuum it up. This will help to remove any odors and leave your mattress smelling fresh.
Clean your showerhead with vinegar
Over time, mineral deposits can build up on your showerhead, reducing its water flow and effectiveness. To clean it, fill a plastic bag with white vinegar and attach it to your showerhead with a rubber band. Leave it on overnight and then remove the bag in the morning. Your showerhead will be clean and ready to use.
As you can see, spring cleaning does not have to be a dreaded task. By using these hacks, you can make the process, simpler, faster, and maybe even more fun. So, what are you waiting for? Time to start cleaning!

Thanks for mentioning such a thing as showerhead cleaning. I only want to add that when you remove the bag, turn on the shower and run hot water through the showerhead. This can help push out any remaining mineral deposits.

Decluttering before cleaning is such an important step, and it really helps streamline the process. Renting a dumpster is something I never thought of, but it makes so much sense, especially when you have a lot to get rid of! Thanks for the great advice!
