Noticing the first signs of hair loss can be worrying. However, it doesn’t mean that you have to say good bye to your head of hair. In some cases, there could be ways of slowing down or even reversing hair loss. If this isn’t possible, you may still be able to disguise hair loss. All in all, it can depend a lot on the cause. Here are just several different ways to fight hair loss.
Watch your diet
One possible of hair loss could be a poor diet. A lack of protein can often lead to damaged hair, as can a deficiency of certain vitamins and minerals. Start eating foods that are rich in these nutrients. Eggs, berries, spinach and fish are just a few prime examples of foods that are good for the hair.
Reduce stress
Many people have been known to lose hair as a result of stress. Consider whether you need to destress – a vacation in the sun could be just what you need. There may also be ways of reducing stress at the end of the day to help you sleep (a lack of sleep quality can also lead to hair loss). These could include meditating, listening to music or taking a hot bath.
Look into over-the-counter drugs
There are a number of over-the-counter drugs that you can buy to combat hair loss. Minoxidil or rogaine is just one useful drug that many people find to be effective. On top of medication, there are also protein shampoos and rubs that you can use.
Try light therapy
It’s also possible to use light therapy to fight hair loss. This procedure involves using a light level laser to irradiate photons into the scalp. This has been known to encourage healthy hair cells to develop. Light therapy unfortunately isn’t cheap and you may wan to check with a doctor that it is definitely the way to go first.
Try hormone therapy
Hormonal shifts such as getting pregnant or going through one’s menopause can sometimes have an impact on hair loss. Hormone therapy may be able to restore the balance of hormones in your body. You should visit a doctor to talk about this to ensure that hormones are definitely to blame.
Wear a wig
Wearing a wig won’t stop hair loss, but it could help to disguise the signs of hair loss. For many people, this is enough to restore confidence in one’s appearance. Today’s wigs are much more comfortable and varied than wigs from years gone by. Try to look for a wig store near to you where you have the option of getting wigs fitted and trying different looks. Some stores specialise in wigs for medical hair loss, while others offer wigs more suited for those suffering natural hair loss.
Get a hair transplant
A hair transplant is a relatively new procedure that can involve replanting hair back into the scalp. This could be hair donated by someone else. A hair transplant can be permanent, however it is more expensive and painful than wearing a wig. By comparing the prices of different clinics, you can help to save money on this procedure.
Nourish hair at the root
Natural oils are often full of vitamins that help to strengthen and nourish hair, as well as prepare the scalp for growth. Many oils are blended with herbs that are renowned for their ability to stimulate hair growth, such as peppermint, rosemary, or stinging nettle. The best oils for growth often include olive, castor, almond, and coconut. Try Whitney’s Hair Secret Hair Growth Oil! This super effective blend of natural oils promotes scalp health and stimulation, hair growth, and nourishes hair!
